27-28 October 07

Started out meeting up with Neville and Kyle at United Fuel at Hervey Bay. We travelled to meet up with Rob and Jo at Mobil at Granville.  We convoyed along the Rainbow beach Road to the Cooloola Way through to Harrys Hut and pulled up for a cuppa not far in.

Saw some of the countryside as we stirred up some dust along the way.

Stopped to help a couple load a broken trailer onto another trailer. The boys did the work as us girls supervised.

Rendezvoused with Anthony and Helen and boys who had arrived the day before.  We picked out some camping spots and set up camp.  We discovered we were in the middle of lovers lane being surrounded by passionate camping couples.

It wasn’t long before we all found ourselves down by the riverbank taking in the breeze and cool water.

The boys had great fun jumping in and out of canoes and our inflatable boat and Neville had a blast joining in as well.  Anthony gave Jo a canoe lesson and all looked very professional.

Chris and I paddled up stream and drifted back down and discovered some sore muscles the next day but thoroughly enjoyed it.  The area had plenty of canoe traffic with several camps all along the riverside.

The evening gathering was a good time of chit chat over some drinks and nibbles.

Next day we packed up and travelled to Boreen Point at Lake Cootharaba and farewell Helen and Jake along the way.  Turned off at Cooran and stopped Tabletop Lookout

( check out the photos)  we followed the Old Noosa Road (4WD Only) through the rain forest where the thought Neville in his Landy might defect to an oncoming convoy of Land rovers  only to discover it was the Ranger Rover only convey.

Stopped for lunch at Mothar Mountain Rock Pools – a popular spot but the water wasn’t flowing as it had in the past. Anthony and Ben heading back home not before passing on some very good maps to the Club. Thanks.

The rest of us followed on through to Gympie and then home after a great weekend away – thanks to everyone it turned out great – hope to see all at the next one.
