Pomona Corroboree Trip Report May 2008

6 vehicles attended with 31 people in total – great turn out. We were camped just inside the showgrounds entrance, we transformed our allotted space into tent city including the twin towers (targe- toilet/shower tents). We were all given showbags with many goodies in them including some interesting items. (specialized safety equipment). We were very impressed on a whole with the organization of the event.

Definitely check out next years venue.

There were activities on everyday. 4WD trips to take everyday in groups of 15 vehicles, you did need to get in early for some of the events. They had a games afternoon one day which seemed a lot of fun.  Night time entertainment was well received by the crowd with some of us up dancing to country music Yeee Haaa!   There were prizes each night and Sarah won a prize for the guessing where the stage backdrop photo was taken. Well done.  The hot showers were welcome along with the close locality of the toilets.  The nights were cool with a fog rolling in at times too.

There were a couple of fines to be had, one by Rob and Jo for leaving the UHF on Vox – (we can hear you!) and one by Chris and Sharron for locking the keys in the fourby.  Rob came to rescue on that one. Many thanks.

The ladies enjoyed a day out touring the winery or should I say ex-Brothel.  Much laughter and merriment (and one or two drinks) was had by all.  Lyn was not too well the next day.

The tracks were Great – we got to see the area around Amamoor State forest which was very scenic.  We all tried some different tracks and had a blast. On the last day  Mark(with Rob aboard) and Ken (with Helen and Anthony aboard) went up the “Nostop” hill. Well done guys.

The Gentle Annie track was popular, all who went on this one enjoyed it – Chris and Rob went on the “300Million Track” which was rated moderate. We all suffered from Jelly legs over a couple of the large hills – certainly tested the driving skills. One Tojo didn’t make it and was towed back to camp.

Mark and Lyn checked out Cookes Knob Track and Mark and Megan went to Harrys Hut and Mt Wilwarrel Tracks. If you were looking for a 4WD experience you certainly found it at Corroboree.
